**SSH provides an encrypted connection. Telnet transmits login details and session contents without encryption.** Use your BBS account for the BBS login.

Replace ''YOUR_BBS_USER'' with your BBS username:

In a BBS client, select SSH, enter the hostname and explicitly set port 2222. Port 22 is not the BBS login port.

==== Telnet ====

In a BBS client, select Telnet and enter the hostname and port 23. If a Telnet command-line client is installed:

===== Terminal display =====

  * Use ANSI with the CP437 character set and a font containing the DOS line-drawing characters.
  * Start with **80 columns × 25 rows** for the classic display.
  * The DbP theme also has 132- and 160-column variants. Match the terminal-size setting in the BBS to your client.
  * The BBS is primarily German-speaking; this connection guide is also available in English.
